IPU and Egyptian House of Representatives convene Parliamentary Meeting at COP27
The annual COP conference is the most important international gathering on climate change. It convenes leaders, policymakers, scientists and civil society from around the globe to identify joint solutions to advance climate action.
The Parliamentary Meeting to be held on the occasion of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) is being jointly organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Egyptian House of Representatives. The meeting will take place on 13 November 2022 in Sharm-El Sheikh, Egypt.
The meeting will bring together the world’s parliaments and provide a platform to address key climate issues including emissions reductions, scaling-up adaptation efforts and mobilizing climate finance for developing countries that are on the front lines of climate change. The meeting will facilitate dialogue on the climate crisis among the global parliamentary community with the aim of identifying inter-parliamentary solutions for a more sustainable world.
The UK Parliament will be represented at this meeting by Alex Sobel MP, Anna McMorrin MP and Chris Law MP where were all key hosts of the BGIPU co-hosted event with the IPU last November in Glasgow at COP26.
Important notice: The IPU and the Egyptian House of Representatives are unable to facilitate accreditation to COP27 or to assist with any logistical arrangements, including visa support for entry into Egypt, accommodation or transportation. Those matters are to be handled by delegations individually. When possible, delegates to the Parliamentary Meeting are encouraged to travel to Egypt as members of official national delegations to COP27 to simplify logistical matters.
